River History Expedition
With the Museum of Western Colorado

Lodore 4-day: July 21-24

This trip is perfect for any history buff. Follow part of the route taken by river explorer and naturalist, Major John Wesley Powell in 1869, on his epic journey of the Green and Colorado Rivers. Our expedition begins under the towering cliffs of Lodore Canyon on the Green River. Along the way, stop and read from Powell's journal and other river explorers' notes as they faced the same rapids and excitement.

The canyons of the Green also hold some wonderful rock art dating back to the early Fremont. See some of these great panels and enjoy the early history accounts dating back to the fur trappers of the day. Relive the past on this epic trip! Call our office for more details 800.423.4668

2012 Perseid Meteor Shower

Lodore 4-day: August 11-14

The Astronomer's dream river trip! The Perseids is the name of a prolific meteor shower that is visible from mid-July each year, with the peak activity being between August 9 and 14. During the peak, which is expected during the night of August 12th this year, the rate of meteors reaches 60 or more per hour!

Lodore Canyon is one of the premiere places on earth to see the yearly meteor shower. The canyon has little to no light pollution, making it an excellent place to really see every twinkling star in the night sky. Come see the meteors at their most vibrant, while relaxing on a sandy river beach.
