What Happens Next?

Once you've been given a large dry bag, you'll need to pack just about everything in it. Leave out anything you might need during the day, like sunscreen, a hat, camera, rainwear, etc. These items can be carried in a small pack for easy access during the day.

Then we'll load up and head for the launch point — Deerlodge Park — about a 2½-hour drive. If needed, we can make a beverage stop before leaving Craig. (Note: beverages in cans are best.)

When you arrive at Deerlodge Park, your river guides will greet you and transfer your dry bags and beverages to the rafts. You will be fitted with a life jacket and asked to listen carefully to an important orientation and safety presentation. Then away we go!!!

Each day is spent anticipating the whitewater and enjoying the serenity of the Yampa River, playing in inflatable kayaks, stopping for lunch, taking swim breaks and hikes. As evening approaches we'll find our Park Service-designated campsite, set up camp, and later sit down to a fine dinner prepared by your guides.

Come morning, your guides will have hot coffee ready and a tempting hot breakfast to help stir you out of your tent. Then it's time to pack up and hit the river for another day of Yampa excitement!

All good things must come to an end, so after traveling 72 river miles together, the time comes to bid farewell to your river guides and new friends alike. Once we land at the Split Mountain boat ramp, we'll load your dry bags on the van, and take off for the 3-hour ride back to Steamboat Springs. There's a refreshment stop along the way, so you might want to keep some cash handy. We return to the Inn at Steamboat by approximately 7:30 p.m.

We're looking forward to seeing you. Please call if we can answer any questions. Thank you for choosing Adventure Bound River Expeditions.
